Odisha Sizzles, Mercury Touches 41°C & More At 7 Places

Bhubaneswar: Searing heat wave conditions prevailed in Odisha making life miserable on Tuesday with the mercury touching 41°C and more in as many as seven places in the State, according to the evening weather bulletin issued by the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here.

Malkangiri recorded the day’s highest temperature at 41.7°C followed by Titlagarh at 41.5°C, Boudh at 41.4°C, Bhawanipatna at 41.2°C and Bolangir, Talcher, & Nayagarh at 41.0°C each.

Similarly, Angul and Jharsuguda recorded 40.7°C and 40.3°C respectively.

Besides, Keonjhar, Sambalpur, Sundargarh, Hirakud, Phulbani, Sonepur, Paralakhemundi, Rayagada, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, and Khordha recorded maximum day temperatures of 39.5°C, 39.5°C, 39.2°C, 39.6°C, 39.1°C, 39.7°C, 39.4°C, 39.2°C, 39.4°C, and 39.2°C respectively.

The twin cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar remained relatively cooler by recording a maximum daytime temperature of 38.4°C and 37.2°C respectively.

Due to prevailing mainly Northwesterly/Westerly dry air and high solar isolation, consequently, maximum temperature (Day Temperature) is likely to be more than 40°C at many places over the districts of Odisha and likely to be above normal by 3 to 5°C over the districts of Odisha during 3rd to 6th April 2024.
