Bhubaneswar: In a significant breakthrough, a joint operation conducted by Sukuma Police and Cobra units of CRPF has led to the arrest of six members of the banned CPI (Maoist) in Malkangiri district bordering Chhattisgarh on Monday.
These arrests mark a significant victory in our ongoing efforts to combat Naxalite insurgency in the region.
Addressing the media, Superintedent of Police (SP) of Sukuma district said, “The Maoists were involved in many criminal activities. They were wanted in several cases. The joint team has also recovered 19 BGM bombs and a huge cache of explosives from the possession of the Maoists.”
On April 6, three Maoists were gunned down in an exchange of fire with security forces in a dense forest in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district bordering Telangana.
Earlier this week, at least 13 Naxalites including three women were gunned down in an encounter with security forces in the Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh district.
