Bhubaneswar: Three contractual workers engaged in road repair work by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) were killed in a road mishap after being run over by a speeding truck on Sohela Raipur Road in Bargarh district late Wednesday night.
The identity of three persons is yet to be ascertained.
According to sources, road repair work was being carried out at Raipur Road near Luharachati as it was in poor shape. The contractual workers were busy working at the site when the speeding truck ran over them and fled the scene.
Locals found the bodies of three labourers lying on the road on Thursday morning and informed police.
On a tip-off, Sohela police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem.
Till the report came in, police are yet to trace the whereabouts of the vehicle and arrest its driver.
