Bhubaneswar: The impact of Kalbaisakhi in some districts of Odisha during the last two days notwithstanding, there seems to be no respite from the intense heatwave in the state. The regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar issued a yellow alert for heatwave in seven state districts on Wednesday.
According to the weather office, heatwave conditions will likely prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, and Nuapada today. At the same time, hot and humid weather conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places in Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, and Gajapati.
Stating that there will not be any major change in weather conditions during the next 24 hours, the IMD has predicted that the day temperatures (maximum temperatures) will rise gradually by 4°C -6°C from April 26 at many places in Odisha.
The weather department has further predicted that Odisha will grapple with a severe heatwave from April 26. An orange warning for heatwave has been issued by the IMD for Sundargarh, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada and Khurda on Friday.
