Bhubaneswar: Odisha sizzled under heatwave conditions on Tuesday as day temperature touched 46°C at Balasore and soared past 40°C at several places across the State by 2.30 PM.
As per temperature data shared by the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD’s) regional centre here by 2.30 PM on Tuesday, Balasore recorded 46°C, Bhubaneswar 45.4°C, Jharsuguda 44.2°C, Chandbali 43.6°C, Rourkela 43.2°C, Sambalpur 43.2°C, Keonjhar 43°C, Puri 35.1°C, Gopalpur 33.6°C and Paradip 33.6°C.
The IMD has issued a ‘Red’ alert indicating that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions is very likely to prevail in the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Khurda, Nayagarh, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sonepur, and Boudh during the next 24 hours.
