Bhubaneswar: Special Judge, Vigilance, Bhubaneswar on Tuesday sentenced a retired former Statistical Assistant in the office of the DI of Schools, Bhubaneswar Durga Charan Sarangi to 3 years rigorous imprisonment (RI) and a fine of Rs 5000 after convicting him for taking a bribe to issue admit cards.
In default of payment of fine convict Sarangi has to undergo further RI for 2 months more.
The court further sentenced convict Sarangi to 2 years RI and a fine of Rs 5000. In default of fine Sarangi has to undergo RI for 2 months more.
Both the sentences are to run concurrently.
Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority for the stoppage of the pension of retired former Statistical Assistant Sarangi following his conviction.
