Bhubaneswar: Notwithstanding the Nor’wester and rain on Wednesday evening, there seems to be no relief from the intense heatwave conditions prevailing across Odisha. The regional center of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Bhubaneswar has issued an orange alert for heatwave in at least 10 districts and a yellow alert for 11 districts across the state.

Orange alert has been issued for Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Sonepur, Boudh, Angul and Nayagarh. Similarly, a yellow warning has been issued for Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Cuttack, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, and Malkangiri.

While the weather office has predicted thunderstorms and rain in some districts even on Thursday, it has predicted that the day temperature in the state may drop by 2°C to 5°C after the Sunday.

On Wednesday, the mercury breached 43°C at 15 places in Odisha making life uncomfortable. While Talcher was the hottest place in the state at 45°C, Boudh and Titilagarh recorded the second highest maximum temperatures of the day at 44.5°C degree each.
