Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday caught Rabindra Patra, Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), RWS&S in Jharsuguda, red-handed while demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a complainant (a contractor) for facilitating the release of his pending bills related to works executed by him. While Patra has been arrested, the entire bribe money has been recovered from him and seized.
Following the successful trap, simultaneous searches are underway at four locations linked to Patra.
In this connection, a case has been registered at the Rourkela Vigilance police station under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. Further investigation into the crime is in progress and a detailed report is awaited.
