Bhubaneswar: An Odia boy has earned accolades from across the globe after his research on the emotions of robots during interaction with humans dragged the headlines of European and Western media.
Meet Chinmaya Mishra, a resident of Sambalpur who claimed to have made an extensive study whose findings are considered the world’s first research to automate Emotions in Robots with the use of LLMs.
Mishra, a postdoctoral research scholar in the Multimodal Language Department at the Max Planck Institute for Psycholinguistics (Netherlands) investigated two crucial non-verbal behaviours i.e gaze and emotions in Human-Robot interactions. He also leveraged GenAI in his research with robots.
His study focused on the application of LLMs (like chatGPT) to automate the emotions of a robot during a Human-Robot Interaction.
Despite handsome job offers in abroad, Mishra is keen on doing something new in robotics research in Odisha.
Mishra completed his schooling in Puri and Jeypore and later pursued engineering courses at ITER Engineering College, Bhubaneswar.
Currently, there has been a lot of attention on AI and the next generation of general-purpose robots. With advancements of Robots, their ability to communicate with humans has become a priority.
