Bhubaneswar: Ollywood actor-turned-politician Anubhav Mohanty is in trouble again as the Cuttack Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) dismissed his discharge petition on Tuesday and directed the authorities to frame charges of domestic violence against him.
According to reports, his former wife Varsha Priyadarshini had registered a complaint with Purighat police station in December 2020 alleging that the actor and his two friends had locked her up in a room in his house at Cuttack’s Nandi Sahi on December 18 night while they were contesting in a divorce case. Later, a police team rescued her from the alleged captivity.
Based on Varsha’s complaint, the police registered a case under Sections 498A, 341, and 506 of the IPC against Anubhav and his friends.
Meanwhile, the Orissa High Court granted him a divorce from his actor wife in December 2023, dismissing an order in which a Cuttack family court rejected his petition. Subsequently, He got his divorce decree in February 2023 – 10 years after his marriage.
In the midst of all these, Anubhav switched allegiance from the BJD to the BJP and was an aspirant for an election ticket from the saffron party.
