Bhubaneswar: After a brief lull, heat wave returned to State as two weather stations recorded 40 degrees C.
According to Met department, Bolangir and Nuapada emerged hottest at 40 degrees C temperature each. Malkangiri and Titilagarh recorded 39.5 degrees C each while Sambalpur and Boudh came third in the row recording 39 degrees C each.
Talcher witnessed 38.8 degrees C while Jharsuguda and Sonepur saw 38.5 each.
Sundergarh, Jajpur Nayagarh,Khurdha, Dhenkanal, Phulbani sizzled at 38 degrees C temperature each.
The mercury level in Bhubaneswar and Cuttack came down to 36.7 and 37.5 degrees C respectively.
Heat wave conditions prevailed since morning hours and became worse by 2 pm. People, who heaved a sigh of relief on Tuesday, preferred to remain indoors during the day time.
On Tuesday, the State received respite from the sweltering heat under the influence of Nor’wester rains. No weather station recorded 40 degrees C yesterday.
The met department predicted rain and thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind over several districts of Odisha during next 4-5 days.
