Rayagada: The body of Sub-Inspector Ashok Pradhan of Ambadala Police Station in Muniguda Block, Rayagada district, was recovered on Saturday evening after he was found hanging inside the quarters on the police station premises.
A police station employee noticed SI Pradhan hanging and immediately informed others. Police personnel broke open the door, rescued him, and rushed him to the Ambadala Community Health Centre, where doctors declared him brought dead. The incident has triggered panic in Ambadala.
SI Pradhan, a resident of Bigapadar village in Phulbani district, was living with his family in a rented house in Ambadala. Sources said he left his residence in the evening and went to the police station.
Preliminary information suggests he may have taken the extreme step due to some domestic reasons. However, the owner of the rented house where the deceased SI lived stated that he had never witnessed or heard of any quarrel or disturbance in the household. This has given rise to suspicion over the circumstances of the death.
It remains unclear whether the suicide was linked to domestic issues, work-related pressure, or any other reason. A police investigation is currently underway at the scene. Further details are awaited.
