Bhubaneswar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Odisha Police on Wednesday arrested one Saroj Kumar Mohanty from Bhubaneswar for defrauding his company, M/s Sealcoat Structural Works Pvt Ltd, of Rs 2.63 crore.
The accused is an account of the company and hails from Kaliabora village in Odisha’s Jagatsinghpur district. He will be produced before the designated court under the OPID Act in Cuttack on Thursday.
According to reports, Biswajit Bhuyan, managing director of M/s Sealcoat Structural Works Pvt Ltd, registered a complaint against accused Saroj Mohanty at the EOW police station alleging that he defrauded the company of Rs 2.63 crore by making/using forged documents.
A press release issued by the EOW said that it had been ascertained during the investigation that the accused was working as an accountant with M/s Sealcoat Structural Pvt Ltd from 2006-2008. He was assigned the responsibility of looking after the finance and accounts of the company in addition to managing and controlling financial deals with banks and looking after all related bank transactions, tax matters, finalisation of balance sheets, and profit and loss accounts.
