Bhubaneswar: Two youths died on the spot after being run over by an iron-laden truck near Balikuda bridge on National Highway-16 in Cuttack, on Tuesday. The identity of the youths is yet to be ascertained.
The deceased youths were going to Cuttack from Bhubaneswar when the truck hit the scooty they were travelling. The truck ran over the youths after they fell. As a result, both of them died on the spot.
Police meanwhile seized the truck and detained its driver for interrogation. Also, police have seized the body and sent it for post-mortem.
In a separate incident, as many as 20 police officials had a close shave as the bus they were travelling in rammed into a divider near Chhatrapur DRDA Square in Ganjam district, on Tuesday. The mishap left a police official injured and he is undergoing treatment at a hospital there.
According to sources, the mishap took place when the police officials were returning to Chhatrapur from Bhanjanagar.
