Nabarangpur: A woman allegedly killed his minor daughter over a trivial matter of demanding more food at Jhun Jhuni Para under Raighar police limits in Nabarangpur district.
Even as the incident took place on May 15, police revealed the matter today after a thorough investigation.
According to police, the nine-year-old Tulabai Majhi, daughter of Lakhidhar and Tribeni Majhi, had asked for more foods to her mother. Due to a shortage of foods, Tribeni got irked and hit Tulabai’s head with a wooden plank. The girl died due to severe head injuries, Umerkote SDPO Madhusikta Mishra said.
In order to supress the matter, Tribeni took the body to a nearby field, around 500 metres away from home and burnt it after pouring diesel in a bid to make it appear as suicide.
“When we got information, we first registered a UD case at Raigarh police station. During the course investigation, we examined several shreds of evidence and came to know it as a murder,” Mishra added.
The police initially detained Tribeni and interrogated her. During questioning, she confessed to the crime. She has been arrested and forwarded to court, the SDPO said.
