Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, two persons including a patient were killed and three others sustained critical injuries after the ambulance they were travelling in met with an accident in Bhadrak district.
The ambulance was shifting a critical woman patient from Kharagpur to SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack when it hit the roadside divider on National Highway-16 near Tisalpur Chhak.
According to reports, the ambulance sideswiped a Bolero vehicle plying on the highway and lost control.The deceased have been identified as a woman and her granddaughter. The injured include the woman’s son, daughter-in-law and another person.
Local Fire Services personnel rescued the injured with the help of locals and admitted them to Bhadrak District Headquarters Hospital. The bodies were sent for post-mortem.On being informed, Bhadrak Rural Police reached the spot, seized the vehicles and detained the ambulance driver for interrogation. An investigation is underway.
