Polling Officer Dies On Duty In Cuttack, CEO Announces Rs 15 Lakh Ex-Gratia

Bhubaneswar: In a tragic incident, a polling officer died while on duty in Cuttack district on Saturday.

According to an official press release issued by the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), Odisha, the deceased polling officer identified as Sujata Mitra was deployed at Booth No. 114 (Hadibandhu Nodal High School) of Barabati-Cuttack Assembly Constituency.

Mitra served as a teacher at Government Primary School, Bakhrabad.

Chief Electoral Officer Nikunja Bihari Dhal has expressed deep grief over the sad incident and has extended his deep sympathies to Mitra’s bereaved family while praying for the salvation of her soul.

The CEO has announced that apart from statutory assistance as per the announcement of the Election Commission of India her family will be given additional ex-gratia of Rs 15 lakh.

In addition, the CEO has directed to initiate the due process as soon as per rules.
