Balasore: Delivering a sharp critique of the BJP and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday, asserted that the return of the saffron party to power would endanger both the Constitution and democracy.

Speaking at an election rally in Balasore, Kharge stressed the high stakes of the upcoming election, stating, “If you don’t defeat the BJP in this election, both our Constitution and democracy, along with your future, will be at risk.”

Kharge raised concerns about the potential jeopardy to the country’s reservation policy for SC, ST, and OBC communities if the BJP remains in power. He criticized the current government for high unemployment rates and widespread national crises, accusing Modi of being indifferent to these pressing issues while focusing solely on retaining power.

“Under the present rule, youth are suffering the most,” Kharge said. “Unemployment rates are high and there is a crisis across the nation. However, Modiji seems indifferent to these issues. His sole focus is on retaining power.”

Kharge also questioned Modi’s unfulfilled promises, recalling commitments to deposit Rs 15 lakh into every citizen’s bank account by bringing back black money, doubling farmers’ incomes, and providing two crore employment opportunities annually for the youth. “Where are these promises?” Kharge asked.

Addressing the unrest in Manipur, Kharge accused Modi of neglecting the situation in favour of his political interests.

He also alleged an alliance between the BJP and BJD in Odisha, remarking on their apparent separation.

“Earlier, the BJD would yield to whatever the BJP wanted. Now, they have temporarily parted ways, but only time will tell how long this broken alliance will endure,” Kharge observed.

At the rally, Kharge highlighted his critical stance on the BJP’s governance and his call for a united opposition to safeguard the nation’s democratic and constitutional integrity.
