Heatwave & Hot-Humid Weather Conditions Likely In Odisha For Next 5 Days

Bhubaneswar: Maximum temperature (day temperature) is likely to be above normal by 3°C -5°C due to prevailing dry conditions in the state and the strengthening of northwesterly dry winds in the middle & upper level of the atmosphere at many places over the districts of interior Odisha during the next two days Consequently, maximum temperature is likely to be between 43°C and 45°C at a few places in interior Odisha with isolated heatwave likely conditions over some districts of Odisha during the next three days. Also due to the absence of any major synoptic situation and high humidity in the lower level, hot and humid conditions are very likely over coastal Odisha during the next five days.

However, establishing north-south trough-like features from June 2, 2024, is likely to trigger thunderstorm activity over some Odisha coastal and adjoining districts. People are advised to take precautionary measures while going outside during the peak hours of the day between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm during the next 3 days.

Day-1 (June 2, 2024)

Orange warning: (Be Prepared) Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in Bargarh and Bolangir.

Yellow warning: (Be updated): Heatwave conditions are very likely to prevail in Kalahandi, Nuapada, and Sonepur. Hot and humid weather conditions are very likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, Ganjam, Keonjhar, and Gajapati.

Thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri.

Day-2 (June 3, 2024)

Orange warning (Be Prepared): Heatwave conditions are likely to prevail in Bargarh and Bolangir.

Yellow warning (Be updated): Heatwave conditions will likely prevail in Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sonepur, and Sambalpur.

Yellow warning (Be updated): Hot and humid weather conditions are very likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, Ganjam, Keonjhar, Gajapati.

Day-3 – Day-4, June 5-6, 2024)

Yellow warning (Be updated): Hot and humid weather conditions are very likely in Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapada, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Jajpur, Dhenkanal, Khordha, Nayagarh, Puri, Ganjam, Keonjhar, and Gajapati.
