Sundaragada: A youth was shot dead on Thursday in Darlipali of Sundargarh district during a violent clash between two unions over the transportation of ash.
The deceased has been identified as Sunil Neti. He sustained a bullet injury in the chest and was rushed to Sundargarh Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition, where doctors declared him brought dead.
According to initial information, tension had been simmering between the two unions over ash transportation. The dispute escalated into a scuffle on Thursday, during which firing took place, leaving Neti fatally injured.
Police rushed to the spot after the incident and have launched an investigation to ascertain the exact sequence of events and identify those involved in the firing. Officials have not yet issued any formal statement on the matter.
