Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate police arrested a 54-year-old man and recovered 24 motorcycles allegedly stolen by him from different areas in Bhubaneswar and on its outskirts
The accused named Krupasindhu Mahapatra of Janala under Info Valley police station was arrested by Capital Police in Bhubaneswar.
Several cases are pending against him in various police stations, Police Commissioner Sanjeev Panda said.
The recovered bikes include nine Hero Glamour bikes, three Hero HF deluxe, four Hero Honda Splendor, six Hero Honda Splendor Plus, one Hero I smart and one Hero Honda Passion Plus.
Based on a complaint regarding the theft of a motorcycle at Capital Hospital, a team from Capital police station registered a case and launched an investigation. During the course of the investigation, police apprehended the accused from Janala area in Khurdha.
During interrogation, he confessed to have stolen 24 bikes from different places in Bhubaneswar. He usually targets the bikes at parking places of Capital Hospital, AIIMS, BMC Mall, Kalinga Hospital, Applo Hospital.
After his confession, police recovered and seized all the stolen bikes kept in his house.
The accused has been forwarded to court today, Further investigation is underway, the commissioner added.
