Bhubaneswar: Five persons were injured in a series of accidents at Palasuni Chhak under Mancheswar police limits of the city on Thursday.
According to reports, an overspeeding truck which was going towards Cuttack from Rasulgarh side allegedly first hit a car at the place where Rasulgarh flyover ends. The car was smashed under the impact of the collision. After hitting the car while the driver was trying to flee with the truck it hit another car, a bike and a scooter.
A total of five persons have been injured in this series of accidents.
The injured persons who were trapped inside the damaged cars were rescued by Mancheswar police and have been rushed to Capital Hospital. Police have seized the vehicles involved in the accidents.
Following the incident, locals thrashed the driver of the accident-causing truck, while he was trying to flee the spot and blocked the national highway no. 16 disrupting the movement of traffic.
Police have removed the accident-causing truck from the mishap site and were trying to pacify the irate crowd.
It is pertinent to mention here that over the last six months, several accidents have taken place at Palasuni Chhak. A few months back a couple of Birmaharajpur area was killed in an accident at Palasuni Chhak. Not less than 10 persons have been injured in other accidents at Palasuni Chhak in the recent past.
