Bhubaneswar: According to forecasts from the India Meteorological Department, Odisha is set to experience its highest rainfall in July, with five districts likely to receive more than usual rainfall.
The districts expected to receive the highest rainfall are Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Jajpur, and Keonjhar. Additionally, isolated places in Koraput and Malkangiri may also witness above-average rain.
The regional centre of the IMD has forecasted above-normal rainfall in interior Odisha, with lower rainfall anticipated in some parts of the western region.
As of July 2, the State has received 164 mm of rainfall from June 1, which is about 24%, below the normal level of expectation of 216.5 mm.
Malkangiri has experienced above-average rainfall, while Mayurbhanj district is notably humid. Thirteen districts have received above-average rainfall, with fifteen experiencing moderate rainfall, states IMD’s Regional Center.
IMD has predicted light to moderate rainfall continuing for the next five days, with the possibility of heavy rain in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Rayagada, Deogarh, Sambalpur, and Bargarh by Tuesday morning.
Intermittent rain is expected in Sundergarh, Jharsuguda, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, and Jagatsinghpur districts over the next 24 hours.
The Kotpad area of Koraput district received the highest rainfall at 153 mm from yesterday morning to this morning, followed by 80 mm in Kantapada, Cuttack district, and 75.6 mm in Tensa, Sundargarh.
Nabarangpur and Dhenkanal districts received 60.2 mm and 52.2 mm of rainfall respectively.
