Cuttack: In a tragic incident, a man died after the marriage party bus ran over him during the procession of his son at Chatarapada village neat Narasinghpur in Cuttack district on Wednesday. The deceased was identified as Bimbadhar Nayak.
The harrowing incident happened minutes after the groom came out of the house for the wedding procession.
According to a relative of the groom, many bridegrooms were already seated in the bus. Still some others, villagers and friends were on the road to participate in the procession. At this time, suddenly the marriage party bus rushed towards the crowd. Despite shouting at the driver, he did not stop the vehicle. Villagers managed to avoid the speeding bus and survived. But, groom’s father fell under the wheels of the bus.
Bimbadhar was immediately taken to Narsinghpur Government Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The family of the deceased has filed a complaint at Narsinghpur police station regarding the incident. Police registered a case and started an investigation into the incident.
