Bhubaneswar: In a significant move, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced on Friday that the state government will soon introduce a pension scheme for the families of freedom fighters under the ‘Kutumba’ scheme.
The scheme aims to provide financial assistance to the kin of those who fought to free India from the clutches of British rulers.
Speaking on the occasion of Kranti Divas, which marks the anniversary of the Quit India Movement, Chief Minister Majhi acknowledged the long-standing demand for such a scheme. He assured that the government is actively working on framing the modalities for its implementation and steps would be taken soon to roll out the scheme.
This move is seen as a tribute to the state’s freedom fighters and recognition of their sacrifices for the nation’s independence.
