Baripada: A team of wildlife officials from Chahala Range in Mayurbhanj apprehended a poacher in the core area of Similipal Wildlife Sanctuary-cum-Tiger Reserve on Thursday.
Acting on reliable information, the team patrolled the area near Poragoda footpath and spotted individuals entering the restricted zone with weapons, informed Sai Kiran, the Deputy Director, Similipal North WL Division.
After a brief chase, they caught Mangal Bansingh, a 43-year-old resident of Nuniagoda village, Sai Kiran added.
The team also seized a bow, three arrows, and a bag containing cooked rice from his possession:
The accused is currently under further investigation and will be produced before the court.
