Bhubaneswar: The Block Development Officer (BDO) of Nandahandi Block in Nabarangpur district has a reason to be appreciated widely from various quarters. His gesture of compassion has invited much applause from various sections of the society.
BDO Khirod Chandra Sahu reached out to a remote village Dandasenaguda village which is badly hit by Diarrhoea and tried to convince the patients who were reluctant to visit the hospital due to the superstition that no one would come out alive if they go to the hospital.
A medical team went from house to house and continued to treat the people. It was not possible to go home and provide proper treatment to critical kids.
At this time, the BDO carried them to the hospital in a vehicle for treatment. Due to the efforts of the BDO, some patients somehow agreed to visit the hospital.
“I tried my best along with the medical team to convince the patients who are reluctant to receive treatment at the hospital. Somehow, they agreed and we sent them to the medical for treatment. Our medical team is trying their best to cure the patients,” said Nandahandi BDO Khirod Chandra Sahu.
According to reports, diarrhoea claimed three lives in the village in the last four days. The water-borne disease spread in the village on August 8. The health team collected water samples and sent them for examination.
