Bhubaneswar: In a milestone achievement, SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack has successfully performed its second liver transplant surgery on Monday.
As per the report, the complex procedure was carried out on 39-year-old Manas Muduli a resident of Nayagarh. Muduli received a liver donated by his wife, Chhabi Mallik.
The surgery was performed by a four-member team of renowned doctors led by Professor Dr Balachandran Menon from AIG Hyderabad, along with Professor Dr Rajesh Kumar Dora, Professor Dr Promod Kumar Palai, Associate Professor Dr Laxmi Narayan Mohanty and Professor Dr Kaumudi Patnaik from SCB Medical College and Hospital.
According to information from SCB, the surgery, which began at 8 am, lasted 10 hours and was completed at 6 pm. Both the donor and recipient are stable and under observation in the ICU.
This is the second liver transplant surgery performed at SCB Medical College and Hospital, with the first one being conducted on April 3 this year. The surgery was made possible with the support of various departments, including Hepatology, Hematology, Radiology, Transfusion Medicine, Anesthesiology, and Surgery.
