Bhubaneswar: East Coast Railway General Manager Parmeshwar Funkwal met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the Legislative Assembly Chamber today, inviting him to attend the Vande Bharat Train flag-off ceremony on September 15.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the train, and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has extended a special invitation to the Chief Minister.
Notably, three out of the 10 Vande Bharat trains to be launched will run through Odisha: Tata-Berhampur, Rourkela-Howrah, and Durg-Vishakhapatnam. The ceremony will take place at Berhampur station.
With the addition of these new trains, Odisha will have a total of six Vande Bharat trains, improving the state’s railway infrastructure. The central government has allocated a record Rs 10,586 crore for this purpose in the recent budget, with ongoing projects worth Rs 54,434 crore.
Chief Minister Majhi thanked Railway Minister Vaishnaw for the invitation, acknowledging the central government’s support for Odisha’s railway development.
