Bhubaneswar: The Balasore district administration has completed all necessary preparations to evacuate over 3100 people from around six villages bear Chandipur ahead of the missile test from the LC-III at Chandipur Integrated Test Range (ITR) on Thursday.
To ensure public safety, the administration has taken steps for the evacuation and security of people within a 2.5-kilometer radius of the launch site. A total of 3100 people from six villages- Jaydevkasba Pahi, Sahajangar Pahi, Bhimpur Pahi, Tundra Pahi, Khedupahi, and Kusumuli – will be temporarily relocated to three multipurpose cyclone shelters.
Temporary camps have been set up at Jaydevkasba Multipurpose Cyclone Shelter (for Jaydevkasba Pahi and Sahajangar Pahi residents), Khadupahi Multipurpose Cyclone Shelter (for Khadupahi and Tundura residents) and Bhimpur Multipurpose Cyclone Shelter (for Kusumuli and Bhimpur residents).
Over 100 government officials and employees have been deployed to assist evacuees, while 15 police force sections have been deployed to maintain security.
Sirens have been used to inform residents in the affected areas to report to the temporary camps from Thursday morning until the evacuation and missile tests are completed. ITR will provide breakfast and lunch to the evacuees on the same day.
