Bhubaneswar: A team of eight Special Protection Group (SPG) officers arrived at Bhubaneswar airport on Thursday to take charge of the Prime Minister’s security ahead of his visit to the state capital on September 17.

According to sources, SPG officers will be responsible for his security from his arrival at the airport to his departure from the Janata Maidan venue. The SPG team will visit the Janata Maidan venue to review the security arrangements today.

Meanwhile, a high-level meeting was held at the Lok Seva Bhavan yesterday, chaired by the Chief Secretary, to discuss the preparations for the Prime Minister’s visit.

The DGP and IGP have been entrusted with maintaining law and order and overseeing security arrangements. The Khordha District Collector has been directed to make necessary arrangements for the event.

During his visit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch the ‘Subhadra’ scheme, a flagship welfare initiative of the Odisha government, at Janata Maidan. The scheme has garnered an overwhelming response, with a staggering 45 lakh applications submitted by beneficiaries so far.

It is pertinent to mention that the Prime Minister will arrive at Bhubaneswar Airport at 11:35 am on September 17 and attend the programme at Janata Maidan at 11:55 am before flying back to New Delhi at 3 pm.
