8 Bovines Killed In Lighting Strike In Odisha’s Kalahandi

Kalahandi: In a tragic incident, eight cows were killed in a lightning strike in Junapani village of Malaspur gram panchayat under Jaipatna police limits in Odisha’s Kalahandi district on Sunday.

While eight cows died on the spot on Sunday afternoon, a young cowherd Mahaling Lohora was injured in the lightning strike. He has been admitted to the Jaipatna tribal health center.

The deceased cattle belonged to Juri Jhalwa, Rudra Naik, Lingraj Naik and Shalvi Naik of Junapani village. The incident has been reported to Jaipatna Tehsildar, RI and veterinarian. The farmers have requested the authorities to pay them requisite compensation for the loss of cattle.
