Baripada: In a successful operation, the Bhanjapur police arrested three persons involved in the theft of a Bolero vehicle from Baripada city.

The police recovered 170 pieces of machinery, five wheels, and nine seats from the accused identified as Rajen Bindhani (48) of Satapautia, Chittaranjan Khilar (19) of Raghunathpur (Ward No.22) and Pradhan Bindhani (34), owner of a scrap godown in Palabani.

According to sources, the theft occurred on the night of Vishwakarma Puja, and the complainant, Manoranjan Behra, filed a complaint with Bhanjapur police the next day.

However, the main accused Kartik Bindhani, and another individual, Ratan, are still at large.

According to the police, Kartik was driving the stolen Bolero for some time and attempted to sell it in various locations, including Jharkhand and West Bengal.

During the investigation, it was ascertained that Kartik was engaged as a driver in a Bolero vehicle of informant bearing registration no- OD-05R- 6667 for about one month. Due to a dispute between the informant and the driver, the former drove him out and engaged another driver for which the latter hatched a plan to steal the Bolero vehicle.

Police investigation revealed that the stolen Bolero parts were sold to various individuals, including SK Nasimuddin of Kaderia village. Police have recovered most of the stolen materials and are still searching for the remaining parts, including the engine and valuable machinery.

The investigation is ongoing, and efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining accused, police sources said.
