Dy CM KV Singh Deo Explores Solar-Powered Pumps For Improving Irrigation

Bhubaneswar: Representatives of the Royal Indian Company met with Deputy Chief Minister cum Agriculture & Farmers’ Empowerment and Energy Minister, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, at the Lok Seva Bhavan on Thursday to discuss the use of solar-powered pumps for improving irrigation facilities in the state.

According to an official press release, during the meeting, the Royal Indian Company ‘s representatives highlighted the benefits of using portable solar-powered pumps for irrigation, which can significantly reduce electricity costs and provide a sustainable solution for farmers. They explained that the pumps are particularly useful for accessing water from wells, ponds, and other natural water sources, offering a cost-effective alternative for farmers. Royal India Company has already been providing such services in Jharkhand and other states, where these systems have improved agricultural productivity.

Deputy Chief Minister Singh Deo appreciated the company’s efforts and emphasized the State government’s commitment to enhancing irrigation systems for the welfare of the state’s farmers. He assured that the government is taking all necessary steps to address irrigation challenges and facilitate the introduction of new technologies to improve agricultural output.

The meeting was also attended by Hemant Kumar Sharma, Principal Secretary of the Energy Department, along with senior officials from the Water Resources and Energy Departments. The discussion marked an important step towards exploring solar energy-driven solutions for sustainable farming in Odisha.
