Bhubaneswar: Residents of the Bhubaneswar woke up to the first dense fog of the current season on Saturday, with visibility plunging to as low as 150 metres in several areas.
As per reports, a thick layer of fog enveloped large parts of Bhubaneswar in the early morning hours, reducing visibility significantly and disrupting normal life. Motorists faced difficulties navigating the roads as the dense fog slowed down vehicular movement across the city. Commuters reported cautious driving, with traffic moving at a reduced pace especially on major thoroughfares.
The fog appeared after the passage of cyclonic storm ‘Arnab’. Night-time temperatures have also dropped, bringing a mild chill that residents described as the first hint of the approaching winter season.
Meanwhile, weather officials and locals noted the sudden change in conditions following the cyclone’s exit, with cooler nights contributing to the formation of the dense fog cover.
The weather experts have advised motorists to drive carefully, use headlights and fog lights, and maintain safe distances during dense fog.
