Gang rape case

Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police arrested three persons in connection with the loot and gang-rape of a woman in a flat at Maitree Vihar area in the city.

The accused were identified as Bikash Naik, Jaga Singh and Tukuna Naik.

Several cases are pending in different police stations against two of the accused- Bikash Naik and Jaga Singh. Both are habitual offenders.

Another accused Tukuna Naik, an auto driver helped the duo enter the flat and commit the crime.

Bikash and Jaga had also looted a mobile phone on September 28 night from the same flat. They had planned to perpetrate the crime after finding the balcony door open. The next night, they also entered the flat and looted three mobile phones and one pair of earrings from the victim. Taking advantage of her loneliness, they gang-raped her at a knife point and threatened to kill her two-year-old baby if she revealed it to anyone, police commissioner S Dev Datta Singh said at a press meet.

There was no male member present in the flat when the incident took place, he added.
