Bhubaneswar: A man allegedly axed his wife and nephew over a family dispute at Kusubenti village under Brahmagiri police limits in Puri district, on Wednesday. The injured are meanwhile undergoing treatment.
Police detained the accused identified as Gundicha Pradhan alias Kalu for interrogation.
According to sources, Kalu used to live in his in-law’s house. Kalu had a heated argument with his wife earlier in the day, which escalated into violence. He attacked his wife with a sharp object, and when his nephew intervened, Kalu assaulted him as well.
Neighbours rushed to the scene after hearing the injured’s screams and found both victims writhing in pain. They were immediately rushed to a nearby hospital. Locals also handed over Kalu to the police.
On a tip-off, police rushed to the spot and took Kalu into custody apart from launching an investigation into it.
