Subarnapur: An elderly woman had a narrow escape after her thatched house was engulfed in flames in Sakama village, Mahadevpali panchayat, under Binika police jurisdiction in Subarnapur district on Thursday morning.

According to reports, some children were setting off firecrackers near the elderly woman’s house when a stray spark ignited the thatched roof. Fortunately, the woman was outside her home when the fire broke out, avoiding injury.

However, by the time the fire was brought under control, all of the woman’s belongings had been reduced to ashes.
