Nuapada: Police on Friday unearthed a Maoist dump at a forest in Nuapada district and seized around 500 electric detonators and other incriminating articles from the spot.
Acting on a tip-off on the movement of the CPI (Maoist) cadres, Nuapada SP Gundala Reddy Raghavendra had launched a search and destroy operation (SADO) involving two Special Operations Group (SOG) teams in Patdhara and Sunabeda reserve forests on the night of Wednesday (October 30).
In line line with the operational plan both the SOG teams conducted an extensive search of the area.
“On Friday morning (November 1) around 6.45 AM, one of our SOG team discovered a Naxal Dump. From that dump we recovered around 500 electrical detonators, five reels of safety fuse, five improvised IED switches, two SBGL rounds, one gelatin stick and various Naxal literature especially in Telugu language,” informed Nuapada SP Gundala Reddy Raghavendra briefing reporters here on Saturday .
The SP further informed that while anti-Naxal operations are still underway in the area, another SOG team has been dispatched to the area.
