Woman Found Dead At In-Law’s House; Family Alleges Murder

Mayurbhanj: A woman was found dead in her in-law’s residence under mysterious circumstances at Mathiabhanga village under Khunta police limits in Mayurbhanj district on Friday night.

The deceased has been identified as Arati Sethi.

However, Arati’s family alleged that her husband Sumant, mother-in-law Shantilata, and brother-in-law Tilottama subjected her to prolonged domestic violence and torture. Arati had previously sought refuge at her parental home due to continuous harassment. With each passing day, their torture on Arati kept on rising instead of decreasing.

According to sources, Arati’s husband Sumant informed her family last night that Arati had committed suicide by hanging herself. When they rushed to her house, they found Arati’s body lying in a bed. They contradicted Sumant’s suicide claim stating that she was murdered by her husband and in-laws.

Based on the complaint filed by Arati’s family, Khunta police detained the victim’s husband and in-laws for questioning and sent Aarti’s body for post-mortem.

Police are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death.
