Bhubaneswar: At least three persons were killed and 16 others sustained serious injuries after a pick-up van they were travelling in collided with a tractor and overturned at Bakawand village in Chhattisgarh’s Bastar district on Monday.
The victims, from Nabarangpur’s Kosagumuda area, were returning from work when the mishap took place. The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital where three died while undergoing treatment, sources said.
The deceased have been identified as Purna Bhatra of Kera village, Dhanai Bhatra and Dayabati Sarabu of Sariguda village of Nabarangpur district.
Two critically injured workers are meanwhile undergoing treatment at Dimrapal Government Medical College.
Upon being informed, local MLA Manohar Randhari visited the hospital and took stock of the situation.
