Bhubaneswar: Ten accused involved in the attack on Dharmasala MLA Himanshu Sahoo were sent to jail today after their bail pleas were rejected by the Jajpur Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate court.
Following their arrest, the accused underwent health checkups before being produced in court.
Based on a complaint filed by MLA’s Personal Security Officer (PSO), police arrested the accused by conducting raids at several places in the district.
It is pertinent to note that Sahoo was attacked allegedly by supporters of BJD organizational secretary Pranab Prakash Das near the Budhapola area of the Jajpur district on Wednesday evening. It was alleged that some supporters of Das attacked Sahoo with iron rods and sticks. Apart from thrashing Sahoo, the miscreants were reported to have damaged his vehicle and snatched his gold chain.
Following the incident, three special teams were formed by Jajpur Police to investigate into the incident and nabbed the accused following raids.
