Sundargarh: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday said that his government will initiate the process to form the North Odisha Development Council (NODC) in 2-3 months.
Speaking at a function organised by the BJP at Sanskruti Bhavan in Sundargarh, the Chief Minister said that the state government has already formed a task force to start the process of formation of NODC. A minister has been entrusted the responsibility to carry forward the work.
He said, “Sundargarh district, which is currently under the Western Odisha Development Council (WODC), will be brought under the NODC. I personally want that Sundargarh to be included in the NODC. It will ensure rapid growth of the district.”
The state government had constituted the WODC in 1998 comprising Bargarh, Bolangir, Boudh, Deogarh, Jharsuguda, Kalahandi, Nuapada, Sambalpur, Subarnapur and Sundargarh districts in addition to Athmallik sub-division of Angul district. The medical colleges in Bolangir, Kalahandi and Sundargarh were constructed with the funds from WODC.
