Bhubaneswar: After a brief lull, cold days are set return to Odisha from Friday. The regional center of the India Meteorological Department has forecasted that the temperature will drop by 2°C to 4°C in the coastal areas of the state, especially the hilly regions, this weekend.
The coastal areas of the state are currently experiencing light rain along with light to moderate fog under the influence of Cyclone Fengal. According to the weather office, light to moderate fog can be seen in Kandhamal, Kalahandi, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Keonjhar over the next two days. Light rain is also likely in one or two places in Gajapati, Rayagada, Koraput, and Malkangiri on Friday.
Rainfall is likely on December 8 in some districts of south central Odisha, including Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Jharsuguda and Bargarh.
Meanwhile, the maximum rainfall of 65.4 mm was recorded in Borigumma of Koraput district in the last 24 hours. Other places like Kotapada, Koraput and Malkangiri recorded 7.8mm, 6mm and 5.2mm rainfall respectively. The night temperature in most areas in Odisha remained above 15°C during the last two days.
