Rourkela GRP Seize 65 Kg Silver From Railway Station, Detain Carrier

Rourkela: The Rourkela Government Railway Police (GRP) seized a huge quantity of silver and arrested the person carrying transporting it by train at the Rourkela railway station on late Thursday night.

According to reports, one Chandan Kumar, a native of Ranchi in Jharkhand, was carrying 65 kg of silver ornaments and bars from Rourkela to Jharkhand by train on Thursday night. Acting on a tip-off, the GRP intercepted Chandan Kumar and searched his belongings. During the search, the GRP personnel unearthed more than 65 kg of silver ornaments and seized them.

Initially, the GRP personnel detained Chandan Kumar and examined him. Later, he was handed over to the Rourkela GST department for further investigation. The GST department is investigating why the accused was transporting such a huge quantity of silver from Rourkela to Ranchi and whether GST was paid on the item.
