Jeypore: In an act of superstition, a man was killed on suspicion of witchcraft after the death of another person at Jharapa village under Bandhugaan block in Koraput district on Sunday night.
According to reports, Jangama Minaka of the village died suddenly at her home due to illness. The relatives of the deceased suspected that Jangama died due to black magic and became vengeful. Relatives of the deceased suspected the role of Shiva Minaka of the same village behind Jangama’s death and immediately came to the village to take revenge, killing Shiva Minaka.
The first deceased was taken to the village crematorium by the villagers and cremated. Later, they also cremated Shiva Mianka’s body at the same crematorium.
After the news spread, reporters contacted local Bandhugaan police station officials who claimed they were unaware of the incident.
Police said no complaint has been lodged in this regard. Panic gripped the locality following the incident, as the killers threatened the villagers with similar consequences if they revealed anything about the incident.
