Bhubaneswar: The Commissionerate Police busted a gaming app call centre operating in a rented house in Prestige Apartment at Sundarpada in Bhubaneswar on Thursday.
Four accused, all from outside the state, have been detained for their involvement in the fraud. The police have seized two desktops, one laptop, 19 mobile phones, four passports, and multiple SIM cards from the accused.
According to the police, the cyber fraudsters had been operating in the apartment for the past six months, targeting youths through various gaming apps. They would send phone calls and messages to people, defrauding them of money online. Bhubaneswar DCP Pinak Mishra reached the spot to investigate the incident.
The police are investigating who else is involved in this syndicate.
The cyber fraud has become a growing cause of concern as the youth mass particularly are increasingly active on social media and gaming apps to earn quick money.
