Bhubaneswar: Assam Chief Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday launched a sharp attack on the Biju Janata Dal (BJD), claiming that the regional party has already “become history” in Odisha.
Speaking to reporters during his two-day visit to the state, Sarma asserted that the BJD’s influence has waned amidst the growing popularity of the BJP. He credited the BJP government in Odisha for its strong performance and expressed confidence in the party’s long-term prospects.
“BJD is finished. It has already become history in Odisha. The BJP government is working well, and the party will remain in power for at least the next 50 years in the state,” Sarma stated.
The Assam CM’s remarks come as part of BJP’s strategy to strengthen its foothold in Odisha and challenge the BJD’s long-standing dominance in the state’s political landscape.
