Cuttack: A ‘108’ ambulance driver attempted suicide by consuming poison after recording a video on his mobile phone.
According to his wife’s complaint at Athgarh police station in Cuttack that Vijay Kumar Pradhan, was under mental pressure from his superior officer. In a live video, Vijay himself alleged that he was being pressurized by the superior officer, which led to his drastic action.
He is currently receiving treatment at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack in a serious condition. Another ‘108’ driver has come forward with a similar complaint, alleging that the superior officer is pressurizing drivers who are on strike due to a union decision.
“He was under severe mental pressure as he was not assigned duty. His mental stress led him to take the extreme step. Seven to eight other drivers are also under a similar mental condition as they are jobless,” said a fellow driver.
His wife, Anita Pradhan, said her husband was mentally upset for not getting duty for the last three days. He was also not taking his food regularly due to stress. Unable to tolerate the torture, he took such a drastic step, Anita added.
