Bhubaneswar: In this dog-eat-dog world where the lines between right and wrong are increasingly blurred, it’s refreshing to come across individuals who still uphold the values of honesty and integrity. Meet Saraswati Nayak, a Bhubaneswar-based sanitary worker, who has proved that honesty is not just a virtue, but a way of life.
Despite being a sanitary worker, she has demonstrated a strong sense of integrity and honesty in her daily life. While collecting garbage from a bin, she stumbled upon a gold bracelet worth lakhs. It would have been easy for her to pocket the valuable item, especially considering her modest means. But Saraswati’s conscience wouldn’t allow her to do so.
Without hesitation, she handed over the necklace to her superiors, who eventually returned it to its rightful owner Dipika Mohanty who resides at New Forest Park lane-5.
As per reports, Dipika had accidentally thrown away her 18-gram gold bracelet in the dustbin with the trash. When she realized her mistake, she was devastated. The next day Saraswati found it from the dustbin. Unwavering in her commitment to honesty, she promptly handed it over to her superior. Following a thorough investigation to verify the bracelet’s ownership, it was safely returned to a relieved Dipika.
The owner was overjoyed to be reunited with her lost treasure, and Saraswati’s selfless act earned her widespread praise and recognition. However, the bracelet was returned to her thanks to Saraswati’s honesty.
The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has lauded Saraswati’s honesty and commended her for setting a high standard of integrity. Her actions have earned her praise from the public and her employers alike.
